I'm not sure if there is a "National Womb Day" but if it were, it would definitely be during the month of May (no seriously, can we make that a thing?). We all know that May is the month that we take to honor our mothers but it's impossible to honor our mothers without honoring the womb 🤷♀️.
If you're new around these parts, let me explain. The womb is VERY important here at HJWB. We believe that "everything starts in the womb". Physically speaking, the womb is the organ in the lower body of a woman or female mammal where offspring are conceived and in which they gestate before birth; the uterus. It is sheltered by the ovaries and fallopian tubes. *Note: The womb is NOT the vagina. Energetically speaking, the womb is a sacred portal, a creative hub, a DIVINE GIFT that only women have. It's connected to our sacral chakra. It's where we house our emotions, our dreams, our sexual and creative energy, it's just LIFE! Because we understand the power of the womb, we honor it in every way. We believe that "when a woman heals her womb, she heals the world."
Okay, now that we are all on the same page, you're probably asking "well Javon, what's the connection between the womb and Mother's Day?"
I'm glad you asked 😊
When a woman is born, she is equipped with every egg, or sacred ova (a mature female reproductive cell, especially of a human or other animal, which can divide to give rise to an embryo usually only after fertilization by a male cell) that she will ever use in her lifetime. So essentially, when your grandmother was carrying your mother, she was also carrying you. To help you get a better idea of what I mean, here's a photo of the women in my lineage, beginning with my great-grandmother (isn't she beautiful). My great-grandmother carried me. Wow!
Let that sit in.
That means that every emotion, every dream, every trauma, every triumph that my great-grandmother experienced is a part of me. It's a part of my womb. This is how it's possible to have struggles (and strengths) that you can't identify or label because essentially, they may not belong to you.
This is why womb wellness is so important. You're not only living for yourself, but for your children's children, AND for the women who came before you. When you heal your womb, you heal the wombs of the women who may have been unaware.
This Mother's Day, I encourage you to really think about what it took to get you here. Yes, we know that mom had to go through labor, with pain and uncertainty, but also think about what she had to endure energetically. What did your great-grandmother have to endure? The women you didn't even get a chance to meet? They all have a hand in your being here. That's the power of the womb. Honor it. Embrace it. Own it.
Even if your connection to your mother isn't the greatest, find strength and comfort in the power of the womb, and make a conscious decision to use that power to heal your womb and the wombs connected to you.
From my womb to yours, 🌹 Happy Mother's Day 🌹. I love you all for real!
