Ok, I am about to say something that may cause a lot of backlash but hey, I'll take that chance. So I have been following Kourtney Kardashian's journey ever since I received the alert that she was coming out with new gummies for the vajayjay (yes I follow everything that happens in my industry).
Here's the thing, I have never really been a fan of the Kardashians. I've seen a few episodes of the show here and there and frankly, I am not a fan. But that is not why I feel so strongly about what I i am about to share. And it's not even about competition or the fact that she has products that are in the same industry as HJWB.
The truth is, I am happy that she is shining a light on holistic living, yoni steaming, and herbal supplements. More people in the world need to know that there are options other than traditional medicine. I just feel like womb health is becoming a new trend, the next cash cow and I am not here for it. Furthermore, when misinformation is spread, it makes it harder for the ones who are in the industry.
Is Womb Wellness the New Cash Cow?
There is a s hourshift happening right now. All around the world, women are returning to their innate, organic ways. They are remembering their power and trusting their inner knowing to create a healthy life, and looking for healthier, holistic options. This could be due to the challenges that women face when dealing with their feminine health. According to the 2022 KFF Women’s Health Survey (WHS) on women’s experiences with the health care system, when asked about their experiences in the past two years, twenty-nine percent of women ages 18-64 reported that their doctor had dismissed their concerns in that time period. 15% reported that a provider did not believe they were telling the truth. 19% say their doctor assumed something about them without asking, and 13% say that a provider suggested they were personally to blame for a health problem. A higher share of women (38%) than men (32%) report having had at least one of these negative experiences with a health care provider. It is no surprise that women are deciding to take their health into their own hands but seeking out natural, more safer options that they can use in the comfort of their own home.
According to a recent Global Industry Analysis, the global health and wellness market was valued at USD 4,886.70 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach over USD 7,656.7 billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2021 to 2030. Of that, the feminine hygiene and care products market will see huge growth. This is huge, and more and more companies are finding ways to get their share of the billion dollar pie. Now I'm not saying that everyone that gets into this industry is in it for the money, although let's be honest, no one starts a business to not make money. What I am saying is that when things become popular and lucrative, it can attract the friends as well as the foes. The quality and intention have a potential to be cheapened.
The Spread of Misinformation
Another downfall of the recent popularity of womb wellness is that it opens the door for misinformation to be spread. For example, I have been seeing a lot of products marketed to PMS support using things like "don't F* with me" or making the menstrual cycle out to be this horrible thing that women dread when the truth is that is one of the most sacred, magical experiences women have. Or yoni pearls that are marketed to detox your vagina when the truth is that the vagina is self-cleansing and the skin of the vagina (called the mucosa) literally produces a new layer every 96 hours (and yoni pearls are super dangerous and need to be avoided). The most unfortunate thing about it all is the way the products are being marketed. There is division, them versus us. Depending on where you are looking or who is marketing the product, womb wellness can look as different as dancing naked in the woods or getting luxurious womb massages at an exclusive retreat. It can seem unattainable to the average woman. Misinformation not only makes it difficult for the industry as a whole, but it creates unrealistic expectations that can be dangerous for the consumer.
The Hidden Jewel Standard of Womb Wellness
Here at HJWB, we are committed to creating a new standard of womb wellness. Womb wellness is more than the next trending topic or cash cow. It's more than retreats and spa days, and it is available to every woman regardless of race, nationality, social economic status, or any other thing that is used to divide us.
In this new iteration of HJWB, we are committed to not only changing the way the world views womb wellness, but we are also committed to raising a new standard of practitioners and advocates who are knowledgeable and compassion about all things womb wellness and who don't mind spreading this medicine to people everywhere.
The vision for this next phase is bigger than anything we've ever done and truth is we cannot do it alone. It will take me, you, and all of us together. We are creating a space where women can come together to not only glean from this wisdom, but share it and be rewarded for it. Womb wellness is more than just a luxury, it is a lifestyle.
*If you feel the pull to share the medicine of womb wellness, and you want to learn more about how you can do that with us, I invite you to join us for a virtual open house on Monday, July 17th at 6pm.
I love you all for real. And remember, when a woman heals her womb, she heals the world.
Here's to us healing the world together.
