For the Love of Self!

Updated: Sep 21, 2021

When you hear the phrase "Self-Love", what comes to mind? Is it bubble baths with candles and champagne? Perhaps it's a girls' night or a spa day. Or maybe you feel a sense of guilt. Perhaps you don't feel anything at all. Self-love is a topic that can literally go on forever and evoke so many different thoughts and emotions. Everywhere you turn, someone somewhere is telling you what your self-love should look and feel like, especially for women. So much so, that in February of this year, my soul sister, Leah DeLuzio of Her Sacred Circle Event Co, and I decided to dedicate an entire workshop to explore the topic. But we didn't just cover self-love on a surface level. No no. We wanted to discuss the beauty of self-love in its highest, purest form; the art of sacred self-love.

We gathered a group of women and created the ultimate healing experience. We sat in circle, surrounded by candles, rose petals, and the sweet scent of frankincense, as we discussed sacred sensuality, sacred sexuality, sacred pleasure, and sacred play. Women shared their vulnerabilities, their trials, and their triumphs, to experience the most beautiful medicine of sisterhood.

It was such a beautiful experience that I wanted to spend the entire month discussing this topic in detail. Typically, September is Self-Elevation Month here at HJWB, but what better way to elevate than to understand and embody the art of sacred self-love? Each week, we will take a deep dive into each area individually to fully understand how they come together.

I want to hear from you: how do you define self-love?
